At times their will be differences between workers and clients Which can become daunting; however, these experiences will causesocial workers to overcome boundaries and depend on the power of empathy to make just decisions. patience is another attribute Social workers should have, dealing with different group of people and situation. When working with clients who require longer periods to make progress,especially those with complex cases, patience is essential. Possessing these qualities, social workers can better understand a client′s situation and avoid making hasty decisions and becoming frustrated, which can lead to negative outcome.
Being resilient is one of my greatest strength, I think that was a part of my upbringing I was though to never to fold, I learned to keep going no matter what comes my way. I in most situation I can always bounce back from any thing adapt easily. However, this too is one of my challenge. I was raised to be strong. I remember my dad had pass I suffer great lost, my dad had pass, one of the most painful moments of my life, I didn’t get a chance to grieve. Had to be strong for the family. Two years later I lost my grandmother, I kept saying I was fine, kept telling myself “this too shall pass”. But deep down was so broken, lost and hurt. Another fundamental virtue is self-discipline since it allows you to cultivate all the others. It equips you to maintain focus, maintain commitment, and make the most of your time and energy to achieve your intended outcome. It provides you with the framework to do anything and to change. When you develop excessive levels of obsession, rigidity, and stubbornness, discipline takes a turn for the worse. When that occurs, people are frequently placed second to goals and systems. For example when I am working on a task or an idea, I tend to exclude everything else around me , neglecting family friends and also my social life.
